FLAG

Honour flag Deno/Aidan

Deno/Aidan

I think if we changed the NZ flag this would be my pick of choice. This flag reminds us of the soildiers that fought in the world wars.
This flag reminds us of the maori & the English. The red and black we think represents the Maori.
We think the silver fern represents the English.

kapa haka

Kapa Haka is the term used for the Traditional Maori Performing Arts.
Unlike other indigenous dance forms, kapa haka is unique in the fact that the performers must sing, dance, have expression as well as movement all combined into each item.
Kapa Haka could be seen as sign language, as each action has a meaning, which ties in with the words. For example, if the hand is by the ear, this would probably tie in with the word whakarongo which means to listen.
Save A Mate

Every year there are around 330,000 emergency incidents in New Zealand involving St Johns or the Red Cross -  that’s a lot! Everyone of us needs to be prepared and skilled to assist at a medical emergency we could come across in our daily lives.

Your task is to learn about the important emergency first aid skills,  treatment and procedures we need that could be vital to a person's survival. You will then create a Google Site to present the information.

Your learning should cover resuscitation, fractures and bone breaks, grazes and abrasions, choking and medical conditions such as anaphylaxis.

You will then need to make contact with someone who can validate that your learning is actually correct. They may also recommend some changes to your information. We don’t want to get this information wrong!

Your Google Presentation should present information about two of these medical emergencies and the treatment. Your online presentation must include some multimedia. The presentations will be published on your blog for our school community and families to see and use.

Lest We Forget – three words renown across most countries to show our remembrance of those who have fought, and those who have died fighting for freedom. It means that we will never forget. In Canada, we honour the day by wearing poppies, a flower that bloomed throughout the fields of battle grounds in France and Belgium during World War I. The wearing of the symbol of the poppy was made popular due to the poem, Flanders Field, written by Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae after witnessing his friend and fellow soldier struck down in the midst of battle in WWI.

Echidna

Once the puggle starts to grow spikes (around 50 days of age), it will be removed from the pouch and left in the burrow whilst the mother forages for several days on end. However, the mother continues to suckle her young when she returns to the burrow every 4-6 days, until the Puggle is around 200 days of age.
